Obituary of Robert Blanche

Robert A. "Rob" Blanche 78 of Washington NJ died Monday April 5, 2010 in Easton Hospital. He was born in Jersey City NJ April 22, 1931. He was the son of the late Gerald and Anna Pucci Blanche. For the past 23 years he worked in Jury management at the Court House in Belvidere NJ. From 1955-1988 along with his brother Jerry owned and operated Jerry's Meat Market. A long time Washington Business that was started by their father around 1930. Rob served in the US Navy during the Korean War. A life long resident of Washington, Rob served on the Borough Council from 1978-1982. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and traveling out west with his brother "Tex". He was a member of the Washington VFW and the Bear Den Gun Club. Rob was a member of the Warren Hills/Washington High School Wall of Fame for his efforts in football in the 1940's. He enjoyed his time working at the court house as well as his trips to the casinos. He loved gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. Rob was a member of St Joseph's Catholic Church in Washington NJ. His wife of over 49 years the former Phyllis Mettler died Oct 20, 2000. He is survived by 3 sons, Rob of Bethlehem Twp PA, Philip of Washington NJ and Joseph of Stewartsville NJ, a sister Grace Fioretta of Granda Hills CA, and 3 grandchildren Rebecca, Robert and Ryan, and many nieces and nephews. Rob is also survived by his sister-in-law Shirley Blanche of Mt Bethel PA. He was preceded in death by his two brothers Frank "Tex" Blanche and Jerry Blanche Visitation for Rob will be Friday April 9, from 1-3 and 6-9 pm at the DeVoe Funeral Service 136 West Washington Ave, Washington NJ 07882. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday April 10, 2010 at 9 AM in St Joseph Catholic Church, 200 West Carlton Ave Washington NJ followed by the interment in the St Joseph Cemetery.
