Obituary of Peter Toretta

Peter Toretta, 86, of Asbury, NJ passed away on Monday, February 6, 2012 at Easton Hospital, Easton, PA. Peter was born on April 16, 1925 in Brooklyn, NY. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Louis and Josephine Toretta. Peter served in the United States Navy during World War II. Peter was a lifetime member of the Franklin Township Lions Club, a member of the Knights of Columbus #5170, a member of the American Legion, Stewarstville, NJ, the past Franklin Township committeeman and mayor, an avid bowler, former Washington Elks member and a lifetime dairy farmer and a member of Warren Grange # 110 and a parshioner of St. Jospeh's Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Eleanor Porro Toretta. He is also survived by a son, Michael and wife Ruth Toretta of Asbury, NJ; a daughter, Lisa and husband Wayne Pysher of Easton, PA; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by four siblings, Louis, George, Mercedes, and Ada. A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the DeVoe Funeral Service, Inc., 136 West Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. A service will be held on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. A burial will follow in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Washington, NJ.
