Obituary of Denise Davis

Denise A. Davis, 60, of Allentown, PA, formerly from Washington, N.J., passed away peacefully with her family after her battle with cancer on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Allentown, PA. Denise was born on September 7, 1951 in Phillipsburg, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry and Sarah ( nee Skinner) Garey. She had been previously employed by Easton Hospital for 31 years. She had spent the past 40 years with her loving husband Ledrew F. Davis “Tree.” Denise was a devoted wife and loving mother who cherished her family. She was a strong, giving, and intelligent woman, who always put others first before herself. She would always lend a helping hand to anyone who was in need. She loved spending time with her family and sharing all of her wisdom and life experiences with them and others, as well as trying to keep up with all her grandchildren’s new dance moves and trends. She was known to many children in the neighborhood as Nan! She also enjoyed crocheting and reading in her spare time. She will be sadly missed and loved by her family and many friends. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years; “Tree.” She is also survived by a daughter; Keisha E. Davis Cummins of Allentown, PA, her son; Ledrew Gery Davis and wife Ashley of Easton, PA, her step-daughter; Yvette Candy Campanella and husband Thomas of Buckeye, AZ; six grandchildren; Kavonna Brodsky, Shakira Everett, Micah Davis, Kayla, Ledrew T., and Brianna Davis Kavonna will be delivering Denise’s first great-grandchild in April. Brothers; Thomas Garey and wife Suzan of Wichita Falla, TX, Richard Garey and wife Carol of GA, and sister; Ruthe Garey Hummer and husband Michael of Houston, TX. A visitation will be held on Friday, December 2, 2011 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the DeVoe Funeral Service, Inc., 136 West Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. A service will held on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
