Obituary of Mary Stothoff

Mary Jane Stothoff 95 of Washington NJ passed away on Thursday July 21 in Warren Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born in NYC on May 10, 1916. She was the daughter of the late Rudolph and Mary Burke Otten. She attended and graduated from the Hackettstown High School in Hackettstown NJ. Mary was a Secretary for the Alex Bocko Agency in Washington NJ for many years. In her early days she had worked at the Washington Porcelin Company. She was a life member of the Warren Hospital Auxillary. She volunteered many hours at the Hospitals Gift Store. Mary was a Girl Scout leader in Washington for many years. She was a former Tresurrer and Secretary for the Board of Directors at Warren Haven. She also enjoyed being an election poll worker. Mary loved to read and was an avid doll collector. She also was a loyal New York Yankees fan and tennis fan. Above all she was a beloved Aunt to her 19 Nieces and nephews, 16 great nieces and nephews, and one great-great niece who were so loved by their “Aunt Mamie.” Her loving husband Newton and a brother Charles preceded her in death. Surviving are brother Edward and his wife Arlene Lee Otten in Ohio and sister in law Eleanor Otten in South Carolina. Sisters Helen Danitz and Kathleen Lamb and her husband Robert of Mountain Lake-Belvidere NJ, and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Monday from 6-8PM in the DeVoe Funeral Service 136 West Washington NJ. Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 10am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Prospect Hill Cemetery in Fleminton NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s memory may be made to the Washington Emergency Squad P.O.
