Mabel Elizabeth Schaarschmidt 84 of Park View Court, Bethlehem PA went to be with the Lord on August 22, 2013. Born on November 29, 1928 at home in Oxford NJ of the late Emil and Ella Dalrymple Ritzer. She owned and operated Brush and Comb Beauty Salon on Belvidere Ave in Washington NJ for many years after beginning her shop in Oxford NJ. Mabel loved spending time with her children, grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crosswords crocheting and dancing. She was a devoted polka dancer at Holy Family and Sacred Heart Festivals for 20 years. She was a member of the Blessed Hope Church of the Nazarene, Phillipsburg NJ for 23 years where she served as an Usher Director and Card Ministry Director. She also served on these church committees, Ladies Ministry, Communion, Cleaning, Fundraising, Flea Market-Funnel Cake and Love Banquet. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, The Rev Allen E. Schaarschmidt, pastor of the Blessed Hope Church of the Nazarene and Chaplain of the Compassionate Care Hospice of Warren County, and his wife Elizabeth, Nancy Byerlee and her husband Glenn, and William Schaarschmidt, 5 grandchildren, Jessica and her husband David Faenza, Heather and Dr Joseph Trapasso, Michael and his wife Ania Schaarschmidt, and Daniel Schaarschmidt and Victoria Schaarschmidt., three great grandchildren Allen J., Daniel T, and Adam W Schaarschmidt, sisters Dorothy Ritzer of Oxford and Kathryn Murray and her husband John of Stroudsburg, PA . Her loving husband of 47 years Oscar, a brother William Ritzer and a daughter-in-law Diane predeceased her. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday 11:30 AM August 29 in the Blessed Hope Church of the Nazarene 42 Mercer Street Phillipsburg NJ. A time of visitation will be from 9:30-11:30 in the church.
