Obituary of George Vliet

George R. Vliet, 73, of Whiting, NJ formerly from Washington, NJ passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, NJ. George was born on June 10, 1938 in Bethlehem Township, NJ. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Roy and Jessie ( nee Bryant) Vliet. He was a retired bus driver, which was his passion. George was an avid dancer who loved old country music, and his cats Russ and Fluffy. He loved collecting junk and loved spending time down the shore. He is survived by two sons; George R. Vliet, Jr. of OH, Brian Vliet of CO, two daughters; Tina Vliet of PA, Tracy Dormida of NJ, one brother; Carl Vliet of NJ, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by one brother; Bryant Vliet and a sister; Ramona Vass. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 5-7 p.m. at the DeVoe Funeral Service, Inc., 136 West Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. A service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Donations can be made in care of the family to the funeral home. .
