Obituary of Harold Mayer

Harold ( Hank) W. Mayer, 89, of Glen Gadner, New Jersey passed away at the Country Arch Care Center in Pittstown,NJ. on Monday, March 19, 2012. Harold was born on July 27, 1922 in East Mauch Chunk, PA. He is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Louis and Alverta ( nee Blose) Mayer. He was raised in East Mauch Chunk where he graduated from High School. Harold worked for Harris Structured Steel where he got to work on the Verrazano Bridge. He also was employed by Tide Water Pipe Company which later changed to Getty Oil Company where he was a pipe line foreman. He was a member of the Changewater Mountain Gun Club and a member of the Spruce Run Lutheran Church. He loved his garden, animals, music, traveling , andwas a collector of "O" gauge trains. He was known to his family as, "Mr. Fix-it." He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bernice ( Rauch) Mayer. He is also survived by two daughters, Carol Hofer of Scotch Plains, NJ and Louise Fraser and husband David of Readington, NJ, and three grandchildren, Rebecca Fraser, Alex Hofer, and Brian Fraser. He will be missed by all, especially by his family whom he deeply loved. A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Spruce Run Lutheran Church, 442 West Hill Road, Glen Gardner, NJ 08826. A service will be at 11:00 a.m. in the church.Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to the memorial fund of the Spruce Run Lutheran Church.
