Obituary of Elizabeth Tinsman

Grace Elizabeth Tinsman, 98, of Washington died on May, 2013. She was predeceased by her husband John in 2010. They had been married for 75 years. Elizabeth was born Sept 23, 1914 in Charlotte NC and was the daughter of Harold and Grace Westall Davis. While she was baptized as Grace Elizabeth, she was known by her family and friends as Elizabeth. Elizabeth was a bookkeeper for the Washington Star, Orrs and Volkswagon.. She was a very active member of the Washington Methodist Church since 1924. She sang in the choir and played the bells. In addition, Elizabeth was the treasurer for the church and the United Methodist Women and also taught Sunday school. Elizabeth was very busy during her long life. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and served as Regent in 1989-90. She belonged to the Friendship club and St Josephs Social Club in Washington. She sang with the Masterwork Chorus for 5 years and sang at Carnegie Hall. As a skilled seamstress and quilter, she made many quilts for her family. Elizabeth is survived by a son, Richard of Lake City, Florida, a daughter, Elizabeth Quade of Branchburg, NJ, six grandchildren, (Richard, John, Michael, And Steven Tinsman , Arthur Quade and Beth Sharpless) and five greatgrandchildren (Rachael Tinsman, AJ and Nolan Quade and Naomi and Jeremy Sharpless). She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. The funeral will be held at the Untied Methodist Church in Washington on Monday, May 6. A public viewing will be at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 10:30 AM with burial immediately after in the Musconetcong Valley Cemetery, Hampton NJ The DeVoe Funeral Service136 West Washington Ave Washington NJ 07882 has been entrusted with her arrangements.
