Arleen Coppersmith

Obituary of Arleen Judith Coppersmith

Arleen Carey Coppersmith, 75, of Washington, NJ put on her pink, sparkling lip gloss and took a nap, leaving this Earth for her eternal and peaceful habitat on November 7th, 2015. She will be forever remembered by her incredible generous and compassionate heart. Her humanity, kindness, strength and sense of humor will live on through stories…stories of her practical jokes, champion card-sending, mouse shenanigans, and her rock-star shopping skills. Her favorite store was Chico’s; She even had a dog named Chico! Arleen never met a stranger. She loved to drive around in her Lincoln Town car (with the fuzzy dice hanging from the rear view mirror) with cat and dog food in the trunk, feeding and rescuing cats and dogs. Arleen never had a bad word to say about anyone. When asked what she wanted before she passed, she said "for everyone to be peaceful". Arleen is survived by her amazing husband of 47 years, Richard and the best caregiver you could ever ask for, her favorite daughter, Amy (husband Brian, children Jesse, Griffin, Campbell & Keaton), and her favorite son, Dan (wife Lauren and baby Avery Harper). Arleen loved her grandchildren, and they absolutely adored her. She also has 2 brothers, Mike and Richard Carey and too many more in-laws, nieces, nephews and family members to mention; but she loved you all! Arleen has been reunited with her mother, Marion Rhodes Risko and her brother Carl Carey along with a host of other family members. Arleen was the type of person who never wanted a fuss made over her. She didn't want a big to-do service (of course she didn't because she never thought her story was a big deal- like lots of people are double above-the-knee amputees who get prosthetics and walk). Our family would like to invite you to a Celebration of Life service for Arleen on Sunday November 22, 2015 at Flynn’s on the Hill in Phillipsburg, NJ at 1:30 pm with a reception to follow. Together we can “cheers” to her amazing life and her courage, share more stories, and hug. And all of God's people say Amen! Arleen was welcomed home by the words, "thank you good and faithful servant, you are now restored." In lieu of flowers, pay it forward. Please do something kind for someone to make them smile and feel loved...because that is what she did best and loved to do. The DeVoe Funeral Service has been entrusted with the arrangements. Please see www.devoefuneral.com for online condolences.
