Obituary of John Dowhanik

John W. "Butch" Dowhanik 67, of Hackettstown NJ died Tuesday September 23rd in the VA Hospital in Lyons NJ. He was born in Newton, NJ May 19, 1947. He was the son of the late John and Mary Howell Dowhanik. John served in the US Marines having done tours in Vietnam. He worked for many years as a Product Manager at the American Can Company in Washington, NJ. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. John also loved woodworking and decorating for Christmas. He was a member the Church of the Assumption in Hackettstown, NJ. Surviving John is his wife of 45 years Mariann "Sissy" Peters Dowhanik, a daughter Christina Dowhanik of Pohatcong Twp, NJ, a brother Jeff Dowhanik of Great Meadows NJ, and grandchildren Jonathan and Katelyn Smith. Visitation will be on Friday, September 26th from 6-8 and Saturday, 9-10AM at the DeVoe Funeral Service 136 West Washington Ave. Washington, NJ 07882. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11AM in the Church of the Assumption 302 High Street Hackettstown NJ 07840.
