Obituary of Kevin Ward

Kevin M Ward (October 15, 1954 - June 13, 2010) Kevin Michael Ward Washington, New Jersey – Kevin M. Ward, of Washington, passed away Sunday, June 13, 2010, at Kindred Hospital, Dover Township, NJ. He was 55. Mr. Ward was born October 15, 1954 in Bronxville, NY, the eldest son of William and the late Helen Burke Ward. He moved with his family in 1953 to Middlesex, New Jersey and then on to White Plains in 1963. Mr. Ward attended St. John the Evangelist Elementary School and Archbishop Stepinac High School. He received a B.A. in the Classics from Fordham University, an M.A. In the Classics from the University of Illinois and an M.S. In Computer Science from Pace University. He was a Software Consultant. On June 25, 1994 St. John's Catholic Church in the Poconos, he married the love of his life, Mary Hassaj. Mrs. Ward survives at home. Kevin was an active parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Belvidere, NJ and a 3rd degree member of St. Joseph Knights of Columbus Council #5170. Most importantly, he was a wonderful husband, loving father, beloved son, brother and friend. In his free time, he enjoyed camping, hiking and spending time with his family which were the pride and joy of his life. In addition to his wife of sixteen years, Mr. Ward is survived by his two children, Anne Marie and Alexander Michael Marius Ward, both at home. Also surviving are his beloved father, Bill Ward; his brothers and sisters, Dottie Ward of White Plains; Sharon Fitzmaurice and husband, Jerry of Ossining; Claire Satenberg and husband, Bob of White Plains; Thomas Ward, and wife, Michaela of Ashburn, VA; Bill Ward, and wife, Mary of Somers; Anne Jordan, and husband, Bob of Staatsburg; Rosemarie Sanders, and husband, Eric of White Plains. Sisters-in-law, Rose Marie Brozena of Wilkes Barre, PA; Margaret Kaminski and husband, Frank of Larksville, PA; Helen Cunkle, and husband, Bill of Oklahoma City, OK; and brothers-in-law Jacob Hassaj and wife, Carol of Hunlock Creek, PA; and Paul Hassaj and wife, Carolyn of Greer, S.C . Mr. Ward is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Calling hours will be Friday, June 18 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm with a Rosary at 3PM, and 7:00 – 9:00 pm, with Knights Services at 8PM, as well as Saturday 9:15 – 10:15 am at DeVoe Funeral Service Inc., 136 West Washington Ave, Washington, NJ. A Mass of the Christian burial will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Belvidere, NJ. A private cremation will be held in H.G. Smith Crematory. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in trust for the children in care of the funeral home.
