Obituary of Walter Dunlap

Walter T. Dunlap, 87, of Washington, New Jersey passed away on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Easton Hospital, Easton, PA. Walter was born on February 6, 1926 in Washington, NJ. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry and Helen (nee Lemmerman) Dunlap. Walter was a graduate of Washington High School, Washington, NJ. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a lifetime parshioner of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Washington, NJ. He was a member of the Washington VFW Post 6701 and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the NAPUS: National Association of Post Masters of the United States. He liked to gamble, travel, reading about history, and loved animals, especially his sidekick, Sadie. He was the former Post Master of the Port Murray Post Office and formerly worked for the Washington Post Office as a mail carrier. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Georgette in 1994. He is survived by two daughters, Diana Dunlap of Washington, NJ and Donna Dunlap and companion Sue Pierson of Port Murray, NJ. A visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, April 15, 2013 at the DeVoe Funeral Service, Inc., 136 West Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. A second visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 200 Carlton Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph's Parish Cemetery, Washington, NJ. The family requests that donations be made to the Washington Emergency Squad, 100 Belvidere Ave, Washington, NJ 07882 or Common Sense for Animals, P.O. Box 589, Broadway, NJ 08808.
