Obituary of Julia Alliston

Julia Alliston, formerly of Hampton, NJ, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, NJ. Julia was born on August 2, 1919, in Hampton, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John and Julia (nee Jarzembach) Gromlowicz. Julia served in the U.S. Marine Corps after graduating from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ. She raised her family in Irvington, NJ, before retiring to Washington, NJ. She is predeceased by her husband Harold Alliston, who died on July 7, 1993; her son Joseph, her daughter Julie, her brothers John, Joseph, Lewis, and Edward, and her sisters Rose, Mary, and Sophie. She is survived by three sons; John Alliston and his wife Donna, Mark Alliston and his wife Anita, and Michael Alliston and his fiancé DiAnn Baxley; three daughters, Mary Haryl Buckwich and her husband Don, Joan Nutile and her husband James, and Michelle Costantino and her husband Alex; a sister Annie Hall; five grandchildren, Jessica, Danielle, Sean, Noah, and Sam; and two great-grandchildren, Charlie and Teddy. Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. at the DeVoe Funeral Service Inc., 136 West Washington Avenue, Washington, NJ, 07882. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, 34 Main Street, Hampton, NJ, 08827. Interment will follow at St. Ann’s Catholic cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
