Obituary of Jessie Skorets

Jessie M. Skorets, 88, of Glen Gardner, NJ passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Lopatcong Care Center, Lopatcong Township, NJ where she had been living for about a year. Jessie was born on January 17, 1924 in Scranton, PA. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alfred and Mary ( nee Howell) Watkins. Jessie was married to the late Gilbert Skorets for over 40 years. He died in 1984. Jessie lived in the Glen Gardner area for over 50 years. She was a nurse and owned and operated a group home in oxford, NJ until she retired in 2000. She then moved into her home with her beloved daughter Donna Em, and her son-in-law Robert Em. Donna passed away on September 8, 2008. I Jessie was an avid casino player and loved to play bingo. She was a member of the Hunterdon County Senior Program for many years. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Gilbert Skorets in 1984. She is survived by two sons, Donald Skorets and wife Jennie of Glen Gardner, NJ and Dennis Skorets and wife Gilma of Hampton, NJ, three sisters, Edith Slagus, Mary Hughes, and Violet Watkins all from Scraton, PA, a son-in-law, Robert Em of Lebonan Twp., NJ, six granddaughters, Laura, Brenda, another Brenda, Lisa, Robyn, and Jennifer, four grandsons, Joey, Donnie, Robbie, and Juston, and several great-grandchildren. She is also predeceased by a son, Gilbert Skorets, Jr. who died in 1999 and a daughter, Donna Em, three brothers, Jack Watkins, William Watkins, and Kenneth Watkins, and two sisters, Lillian Race, Marie O'neil, and Hannah Mae Mackaliunas. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.at the DeVoe Funeral Service, Inc., 136 West Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. A service will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.An interment will be held at Spruce Run Cemetery.
