Obituary of Margaret C Coleman

Margaret ("Peggy") Carolyn Coleman, 89, passed away on July 30, 2016. She was born on May 30, 1927, in Port Murray, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Eleanor (Woodward) Coleman. Peggy graduated from the Mountainside School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse for 40 years, retiring from Hunterdon Developmental Center, Clinton, NJ, in 1989. Peggy raised a family of four children in Lebanon Township. She loved to knit sweaters and mittens for them, cook delicious meals from scratch and was a master at pie-making. She loved to bike ride, pick berries, read, work in the yard and swim in the pond with her children. She excelled at ice-skating. She also enjoyed working with her hands and restoring old houses. Her very favorite activity, though, was going to the shore and teaching her grandchildren how to jump the waves. She was a devoted grandmother who loved and spoiled her grandchildren endlessly. Survivors include her four children: Cynthia A. Polt of New Orleans, LA; Terry J. Polt of Lebanon Township; Charles H. Polt of Charleston, SC; and George W. Polt of Wind Gap, PA; a brother, Dale Coleman of Washington, NJ; and five grandchildren: Christopher, Casey, Lee, Maggie and Christo. Her brother Charles died in France during WW II. She also leaves behind beloved niece and nephews, Alice, Clark, Dewey and Gilbert. Peggy requested no viewing or funeral services. DeVoe Funeral Service, Washington, NJ, has been entrusted with her arrangements.
