Obituary of Josephine L’Hommedieu

Josephine L'Hommedieu 88 of Asbury NJ died August 14th in the Walden Care Facilities Wind Gap PA She was born in Asbury NJ February 15, 1926. She was the daughter of the late William and Pearl (Henry) L'Hommedieu. She lived her whole life in the Home she was raised. At age 17 she forged her parent's signature and joined the WAC (Army). In her years with the Army she was the driver for many Generals. While living in Orlando she received her pilot's license. After her Army years she worked for an airplane manufacturer. She later worked for a watch manufacturer. Josephine then went to college and received her Nursing Degree and worked at Kings County Hospital. She moved to NJ and took a nursing job at Washington High School and retired from Warren Hills Regional High School in 1979. She enjoyed traveling and loved going on Cruises'. She was a member of the WAC Auxiliary of NJ. Her companion of many years Eleanor Fitzpatrick preceded her in death. She is survived by a close friend Charles Ruchko, 3 nephews, Mark Farmer Woodward Farmer, and Bernard L'Hommedieu and a niece Pamela Farmer and 2 great nephews, Christopher Gerges and Mark Gerges and a great niece Claudine Bell. Memorial Services will be conducted Wednesday September 17th at 2PM in the DeVoe Funeral Service 136 west Washington Ave, Washington NJ 07882. www.devoefuneral.com .
