Obituary of Robert Krohn

Robert Charles Krohn, 57, of Oxford, NJ, died Saturday, February 28, 2009 in the Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown, NJ. Robert was born in Elizabeth, NJ, a son of Charles and the late Ruth (MacDonald) Krohn. He proudly served as a Corporal in the Marine Corps. during the Vietnam War from 1970 - 1972. He was the husband of Carole Jean (Griffith) Krohn. Robert was a former police officer in Elizabeth, NJ for 3 years. He was employed by Local #24, Summit, NJ as a Master Plumber for over 35 years, where he held the position as Vice President of the local. Robert was a "people" person and enjoyed working with children. He hosted an exchange student, organized elaborate scavenger hunts for the neighborhood children as well as coached Washington Township sports including soccer, baseball and basketball. He was famous for his elaborate Sunday morning breakfasts before taking his family to church. He introduced his sons to all that he loved in nature, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed presenting his big game displays and sharing his knowledge of the sport. He did a presentation at a campout where he hiked with students back into the woods coming upon his display of animals. He also preformed assemblies at his nieces school. Along with his wife he bred Brittany dogs. Robert was a member of Washington Assembly of God, Washington, NJ. Survivors: In addition to his wife of 19 years, Carole Krohn of Oxford, NJ, survivors include, two son, Ryan and Stephen Krohn at home; his father Charles and his wife Theresa of Myrtle Beach, SC; three sisters, Nancy Strohman of CA, Judi Brock of Belle Meade, NJ, and Susan Malosky of Branchburg, NJ; one brother, John Krohn of Brielle, NJ. Also his loving dogs, Sunshine, Shadow, Boots and Buddy. Services: Friends may call Wednesday from 2:00 pm to 4:00 or 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Washington Assembly of God, 33 Brass Castle Rd., Washington, NJ. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 5:30pm at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeVoe Funeral Services Inc., 136 W. Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882.
