Obituary of William Hardenburg

William F. Hardenburg, 67, of Bethlehem Township, NJ passed away on Monday, November 5, 2012. William was born on May 18, 1945 in Somerville, NJ. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leroy and Evelyn ( nee Vliet ) Hardenburg. Bill was a member of the Pattenburg Volunteer Fire Company involved with the K-9 Search and Rescue and 1st responder, and as a firefighter. He was a former Captain of the Flemington Rescue Squad. He was the Office of Emergency Management Coordinator, Bethlehem Township, NJ. He was a member of the Phillipsburg Alliance Church and served on the Governing Board and was head Deacon. He is survived by his loving wife, Catherine Thompson VanFossen Hardenburg. He is also survived by a daughter, Kristal Thomas and husband David of Phillipsburg, NJ, a son, Dennis Hardenburg and girl friend Melissa Wilcox of Marietta, GA, a step-daughter, Donna Herrman and husband Edward of Easton, PA, two step-sons, Donald VanFossen, Jr. and wife Kathy of Frenchtown, NJ, and Daniel VanFossen of Bethlehem Township, NJ, and a sibling, Alice Hardenburg of Canton, PA, ten grandchildren, Ashlei, Matthew, Christian, Patrick, Benjamin, Alexander (Peanut), Christopher, Jeffrey, Amie, and Greg, a great-granddaughter, Adyson and a great-grand-son Blake. He is predeceased by two sisters, Gloria Morse and Majorie Smith. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 9, 2012 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the DeVoe Funeral Service, Inc., 136 West Washington Ave., Washington, NJ 07882. The Pattenburg Volunteer Fire Company will hold a service at 7:30 p.m. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the Phillipsburg Alliance Church, 255 Lincoln Street, Phillipsburg, NJ 08865.
