Obituary of Kathryn Thompson

Kathryn R. Thompson, 80, of Hanover Township, PA passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at her home. Kathryn was born on January 3, 1933 in Phillipsburg, New Jersey. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry and Lucie ( nee Hawk ) Renner. She attended grammar schools in Phillipsburg and Jersey City, NJ. She graduated from Henry Snyder High School, Jersey City, NJ and East Orange General Hospital School of Nursing in 1953 with her RN. She then worked for East Orange General Hospital, Warren Hospital, and the Veterans Administration Hospital, East Orange, NJ. She served in the United States Air force from 1959-1965. She enlisted as a 1st Sgt., promoted to Captain while on active duty and attained rank of Major while on reserve duty. Kathryn graduated from Cedar Crest College, Allentown, PA in 1987 with a B.A. in Social Service. She retired from Lehigh County at age 62. She was also employed as a medical case worker in the Social Service Department and worked in public health nursing in Maryland for several years. She is survived by a brother John H. Renner, Sr. of DeLancey, NY, and nephews John H. Renner, Jr. Washington, NJ, James A. Renner, Stillwater, NY, Jay Renner, Bovina Center, NY, Robert Renner, Munnsville, NY and a niece Joy Hamilton, DeLancey, NY. She was predeceased by a brother Harry A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m.on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the Stewartsville Presbyterian Cemetery, Stewartsville, NJ.
