Obituary of Janet Thatcher

Janet was born on June 16, 1923 in White Township, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Russell and Irene (nee Craig) Thomas. She was predeceased by her husband, Phillip Thatcher, son, Curtis Thatcher and granddaughter, Jessica Wilson, two brothers, John R. Thomas, and Elwood Thomas. She was a homemaker and a wonderful mother and grandmother. After her seven children children were raised, she volunteered at the Warren County Nutrition Center for 25 years. She helped with fund raisers, decorating for holidays and served meals. She enjoyed working with the ladies every weekday. She is survived by two daughters, Myrna Shoemaker and husband Butch of White Township, NJ, Kerri Shields and husband Michael of Somerfield, FL, five sons, Jan Thatcher of Mt. Bethel, PA, Colin Thatcher of Wickenburg, AZ, Wayne Thatcher and wife Bunny of Monterey, TN, Dana Thatcher of White Township, NJ, and daughter-in-law, Robin Thatcher, widow of Curtis Thatcher, twelve grandchilden, fifteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, a sister, Joan Whitenight, Cionsville, PA also several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Brakely Park Center for the wonderful care they gave our mother. Especially her aids that cared for her and the activity girls that kept her entertained. She especially enjoyed Bingo with her daughter-in-law, Robin. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Buttzville United Methodist Church, 4 Greenpond Road, Buttzville, NJ 07829. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Buttzville United Methodist Church, 4 Green Pond Road, Buttzville, NJ 07829. The DeVoe Funeral Service, Inc. has been entrusted with her arrangements.
