Obituary of Carol Jean Wilson
Carol Jean Wilson (nee Havranek), 74, of Belvidere, New Jersey passed away peacefully at her home on August 31 st , 2022 with her loving husband by her side. Carol was born on March 31st , 1948 to the late Mary and Charles Havranek, in Bayonne, New Jersey. Carol matriculated from Rutgers University. On September 9 th 1972 Carol married the love of her life George Wilson and together they shared 50 years of happily married life.
Early in her career Carol worked in Manhattan, at one of the largest clothing wholesalers in North America. After their marriage, Carol and George moved to NJ and started to build their dream home in Belvidere. In 1988 they took a big leap and purchased the Roaring Rock Restaurant on Brass Castle Road in Washington, which was quickly to become a neighborhood favorite. Carol worked as the head chef in the restaurant and always enjoyed crafting menus
and wine pairings. When Carol wasn’t busy at the Roaring Rock, she found pleasure getting lost in a good book; often with one of her much loved cats on her knee. An avid reader, Carol loved many of the English classics including Jane Austen and the Bronte sisters. Carol also loved English history and could tell you all about the monarchy from Queen Elizabeth II back to Alfred The Great. As George remembers, you wouldn’t want to face off with her on Jeopardy as her general knowledge was impressive.
Carol will be forever missed by her beloved husband George Wilson and by her cousin Dorothe Pepe of Lewes, Delaware.
